skype Call

We did it…..although I was not present as I had to be supervising Exams, the Junior 3s went to Ms Sue’s Office and Skyped a call with Shannon.  I must thank all for all their interest and concern.  The children enjoyed this but even more so Shannon could relive the feelings her classmates can give her.

Thanks again to all,

God bless

Ms Rosette:)

Visit to Shannon

Today, this afternoon Ms Vaness, Ms Anna, Ms Silvana and myself visited Shannon at hospital.  All her relatives were very pleased to see us giving them all the encouragement that they need.

But most of all, Shannon herself was feeling our presence……..She was smiling when her Nanna was telling her who was there to see her.

I gave her all the children’s cards and when I opened the big cartoncin for her we could see her reacting to this.  We left all the other cards to be opened gradually by her family.

We will revisit her and other teachers will too because obviously we cannot go altogether.  We will keep you posted.  In the meantime, even though children are not allowed to visit her,  I ask you all….children, parents, relatives….. to keep her in your prayers please.

Please remember, that the little gestures are the ones that fill our hearts with love…..and ‘love’ makes the world go round.

Thank you all

Ms Rosette 🙂

Skype Talk

The Junior 3s will tomorrow Thursday go into Ms Sue’s office. She will then, through Skype on internet, get them through to Shannon at hospital. Our children will only be hearing Shannon since as yet we do not think that they should be viewing her, but she will be seeing them.

They will be talking to her and reading to her a line or two they themselves will make up.  We know that through our efforts we are helping our little Shannon get back on her feet.

NB:  We strongly suggest that for now the children do not visit at hospital, please.

Once again, thank you all for your prayers.

A SadGood Bye

Yesterday saw us, all the St Catherine’s Community ….Administration, staff, students old and new, gathered together to say a very sorrowful good bye to one of our most dearest students, one of our school community who passed away at the tender age of 17. A wonderful girl. An ‘A’ student who had never in her very short life, given anyone anything to complain about. A girl both beautiful from outside as well as from inside. A girl who had all the talents and all the gifts a mother and a father could ever dream and ask for.
But, the ways of God are infinite……This is the way God wanted for Sharon Rodenas. The way, as her beloved father told us at the end of her last journey, to Heaven. To where he believed Sharon will be waiting for them when their time comes.
Sharon was also a wonderful singer and mass ended with a recording of herself singing…..this was the Ultimate……when everyone broke down into tears…tears of sadness for such a wonderful life lived so short.

Dear Sharon, we will never forget you….You will always be in our prayers. A special prayer also goes to both her beloved parents whose sorrow one can never imagine. We, as parents, can only know what they must be passing through…and ONLY GIVE THEM OUR PRAYERS.

Maltese Volunteers

Dear Parents,

A large number of Maltese Volunteers have joined ‘The Chaplaincy’ at the University of Malta to do Mission work in Palermo, Naples, Catania and Ethiopia, during the summer months of July and August. These groups form part of the Ignation Youth Network (InYgo; NGO no:0049).

All work is done in collaboration with the Missionaries of Charity (congregation founded by Mother Teresa). The InYgo volunteers shall be working in the ‘House of the Dying’ in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, whereas three Summer Camps are being organised for children who experience various types of poverty.

St Catherine’s High School has kindly given us permission to ask for your generosity in donating:
Coconut Packets and Condensed Milk

for a Coconut Balls Fundraising event we shall be doing.

Just for your information, should you wish to help further to the above, we also accept small toys (ideal to pack in the luggage) to give to the children as daily gifts for good behaviour. Such gifts would include: small pencil colour boxes, stickers, fancy pencils/pens, jewellery for the elder children, small notebooks etc…

Please do not feel obliged to give anything, but in case you do, take it as an opportunity for your son/daughter to understand the meaning of sharing and being kind to others. The act of giving to others is in itself very rewarding. Any contributions will be collected on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th June, thus it would be appreciated if any goods are taken to class by then.

On behalf of all my fellow volunteers I would like to thank you in advance for your support. We appreciate your prayers. Every contribution counts. As Mother Teresa used to say ‘Our work is just a drop in the ocean, but without that drop, the ocean would not be the same!’ Please help us make a little difference!

Best Regards,

Veronique Abela
