Junior 3 – Multiplications

Junior 3s have started multiplying two digit numbers by carrying up.  The same method for the plusing and minusing is adopted i.e

29 x 3 =   87

Method:  First we multiply the 3 by the units.  The answer is put in the working.  We first cross out the units digit and put it down in the answer, we then cross out the tens digit which is carried up on top of the tens digit.  We then multiply the 3 by 2 and plus the answer to the number carried up.

Hope it’s clear and that you’ll revise these sums well.  It is very important to study your tables.  We need to study up to the seven times table for the Annuals.

Thanks

Ms Rosette
