A second outing is being planned for the parents, relatives and friends.
The outing will be held on Wednesday 2nd March 2011 (during school hours). The outing will consist of a visit to the Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu followed by a visit to the Maritime Museum. A snack will be offered at the Maritime Museum.
The Inquisitor’s Palace was erected in the 1530’s as the civil law courts of the Order of St. John soon after the Knights arrived in Malta. Although its successive occupants changed much in the structure of the building, the Inquisitor’s Palace remains an architectural gem, representative of the chequered history and European heritage of the Islands. The Palace is now home to the museum of Ethnography, focusing on the popular devotions and religious values latent in Maltese ethnic identity and culture up to the present day.
The Maritime Museum is housed within the Old Naval bakery and charts Malta’s maritime history and lore within a Mediterranean context and also illustrates the global nature of seafaring and its impact on society. The museum houses numerous artifacts highlighting the different epochs from prehistory to the present day.
The price is of €10 per person, which includes a guided tour of both the Palace and the Museum, the snack offered at the Museum, and the transport from the School to Birgu and back.
Kindly note that relatives and friends other than the parents can also join in the outing, and please spread the word. Thank you.
Those parents who are interested to join this second outing, are kindly requested to give their name to Mr. Brian Gauci by phoning (21378703) or emailing (firstname.lastname@example.org), by not later than Monday, 21st February 2011.
