PLUS AND MINUS IN PROBLEMS for Junior 3s

May I please point out that when working problems in Maths children are to use the plusing and minusing methods we have used on the Pupil book 3A. They obvoiusly can use the mental method as well.

Example:

A class has 23 books on the shelf and another 9 on the table. How many books were there in all.

23 + 9 = 32
23 + 7 = 30
30 + 2 = 32
Ans: 32 books

If there are 36 chairs and 7 children are broken, how many chairs can we sit on?

36-7=29
36-6=30
30-1=29
Ans: 29 chairs to sit on
